Summer 2008 It Was a Kennywood Day for ERC Employees 8/21/2008

Laure Cioffi Approximately 140 ERC employees and family spent August 19th riding the roller coasters, taking in the shows and playing games. “We loved it,” said Joe Kursel, ERC help desk supervisor, who attended with his son Hunter. The company-sponsored outing was open to all employees and their families. This is the second consecutive year the company has gone to Kennywood. Previously the company sponsored outings at other area amusement parks. “Being at the park brings back the child in all of us,” Kursel added. “Having the opportunity to take our children to a thrill ride park is the best.” For some employees this was their first trip to the Pittsburgh area amusement park. John Thomas joined ERC in March as a help desk technician after moving to the area from Virginia. Thomas and his wife, Laura, had a great time riding the roller coasters and spending time with others from the company. Amee Boughter, supervisor in the ERC Telecom Division, rode the swing shot ride five times with her niece. “The day at Kennywood was extremely fun filled,” she said. “The weather was beautiful and it was a great chance to spend time with my niece and co-workers.” Debbie Wiley, telecom account supervisor, spent her day riding the train with her grandson, Jackson. Her young grandson’s first impression of the park was seeing a massive stuffed bird walking around. “His face was precious,” she said of Jackson’s reaction the bird. The rides were a big hit for Chad Ubry’s daughter and niece. Ubry, vice president of ERC’s energy services division, said the skill games and Skeeball were favorites of both the children and adults. “It was nice to be walking through the park and run into a familiar face now and then and catch up with co-workers and family,” he said.
